I've heard so many wonderful things about Canaan, so I had to check it out. I had the $5.50 spicy beef noodles, which I typically enjoy at OG places in Monterey Park and other cities populated with yummy Chinese fare. The dish was HORRIBLE. I hated it. First off:

Noodles: tasteless, doughy, flour noodles. The equivalent was like eating a nasty pizza where the dough sticks to the roof of your mouth like flour paste. GROSS.

Meat: All tendon and fat, no meat. This was low quality meat, too. I felt worried the whole time I would get mad cow's disease. This was seriously the meat leftover from whatever pieces that were thrown out at the market.

Soup: NO FLAVOR. I'm a sucker for spicy, but I ended up having to dump 1/2 the jar of spicy oily paste into the broth to help it resemble something of a spicy soup base.

JUST HORRIBLE!!!!

On a positive note, the family style dishes I saw on everyone else's tables looked yummy. I would go back to try those out, but NEVER AGAIN the spicy beef broth!
